[student job] – UW Zimride Campus Rideshare Coordinator
CAMPUS RIDESHARE COORDINATOR
DEADLINE: Monday, April 11, 2011
Apply via Husky Jobs: https://washington-csm.symplicity.com/students/
DESCRIPTION
UW Commuter Services is looking for a creative, highly motivated student to help integrate ridesharing into campus life as an alternative to single-occupancy vehicle travel. As Campus Rideshare Coordinator, you can help make the UW a more accessible and sustainable campus by promoting new transportation options for students, faculty, and staff.
UW Zimride is an innovative rideshare platform that makes it easy for students, faculty, and staff to share their cars and find rides for daily commuting and occasional trips. Building on the successful launch of UW Zimride earlier this year, the Campus Rideshare Coordinator position will continue to raise awareness of this new service, work to integrate UW Zimride into campus life, and increase ridesharing among students, faculty, and staff.
This Campus Rideshare Coordinator will expand upon previous efforts by UW Commuter Services and a student-led project of the UW Program on the Environment. Although working closely with Commuter Services, this is a largely independent and entrepreneurial position through which the student will learn about the principles of sustainable behavior change and develop skills related to project management, collaboration, marketing, and communications.
This is a student hourly position, budgeted at $13/hour for 10 hours/week, with primary funding made available through the Campus Sustainability Fund. It will begin at the start of spring quarter 2011 and will continue through the 2011-2012 academic year. The student will work out of the UW Commuter Services office and report to the Transportation Systems Manager.
PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Ø Increase usage of UW Zimride by students, faculty, and staff through social marketing, including: media and on-site advertising; in-person outreach to groups and tabling at events; email, social media, and online tools; etc.
Ø Research, develop, and implement additional outreach strategies, such as creating a user testimonial and video campaign, and promoting ridesharing for travel during academic breaks
Ø Develop online and written materials related to UW Zimride, such as for UW Commuter Services and other websites, new student and staff orientation, etc.
Ø Promote UW Zimride through appropriate media and advertising
Ø Measure rideshare usage and impact using Zimride administrative tools, and report regularly to UW Commuter Services and the Campus Sustainability Fund
Ø Evaluate effectiveness of different approaches to increasing carpooling/ridesharing
Ø Coordinate student volunteers, as appropriate, for outreach and advertising (tabling, street teams, etc.)
Ø Under supervision from UW Commuter Services, manage budget, advertising, and other project expenses
Minimum Qualifications:
Ø Passion for fostering more sustainable behavior on campus
Ø Creativity and initiative to develop and implement new ideas
Ø Demonstrated ability to work independently, with minimal supervision
Ø Excellent oral and written communication skills
Ø Ability to interact with a diversity of individuals, including students, faculty, and staff
