[student job] – Student Assistant Positions with PoE or the College of the Environment
PoE is hiring for a student assistant position to help staff our front desk! We would strongly prefer an environmental studies major to fill the PoE front desk position. PoE is a fun place to work and we are right by the water too! The College of the Environment Dean’s Office is also looking for folks to help staff their front desk. The Program on the Environment (PoE) and the College of the Environment Dean’s Office (CoEnv) currently have student assistant openings to assist staffing the front reception desks. PoE has one (1) position to be filled while the CoEnv Dean’s Office has three (3) positions to be filled. In addition to staffing the front reception desk, specific tasks will depend on projects at hand, but may include:
1. Ensuring that material on the Program on the Environment or College of the Environment website is current and accurate.
2. Assisting with maintenance of online events calendar and weekly electronic events newsletter.
3. Assisting in duplication and filing of documents and inputting data into databases and spreadsheets.
4. Performing routine clerical tasks such as mailings, meeting preparation, on-campus deliveries, and other office functions as needed
5. Ensuring that conference rooms, kitchen areas, and storage cabinets are kept organized/stocked.
Minimum Qualifications:
• Strong organizational skills and a friendly, helpful demeanor
• Ability to operate standard office equipment, conduct internet research, and effectively communicate information to a diverse population of students, faculty, staff, and external constituents
• Ability to work independently and handle material of a confidential nature
• Experience with computer software, including Excel and Microsoft Word
Desired Qualifications:
Special consideration will be given to students who demonstrate strong skills in writing and editing, graphic design, or web maintenance and social media. Experience with Dreamweaver, InDesign, CSS and HTML a strong asset.
