[volunteer] – UW Language Exchange Partner Opportunity!
To Whom It May Concern,
My name is Tessa Marts, and I am writing on behalf of the UW English Language Programs. I coordinate a language exchange which matches our ELP students with English-speaking conversation partners in order to give them opportunity to practice their English outside the classroom. In exchange, our students help teach their native language to their partners.
However, this program cannot exist without native English-speaking volunteers! Participating in the ELP Language Exchange is a great way to practice speaking languages with native speakers and to explore different cultures. Every quarter we have students from countries all over the world – including Taiwan, South Korea, China, Thailand, Japan, and Saudi Arabia who participate in this program. Volunteers don’t necessarily have to be learning a new language – the ELP Language Exchange is also a great way to make friends with students from different countries and to experience something new.
If you wouldn’t mind forwarding this email to your students to see if they are interested in being a conversation partner, and telling them to contact me if they are, I would appreciate it! I have attached a flyer in case you need more information or want to post it in your office.
Your students may also find more information, including volunteer applications, at our website: http://elp.washington.edu/elp/exchange/
Please contact me with any questions. Thank you!
