Kate Allstadt, a student from PoE’s “Environmental Science Writing for Impact” course writes about past and present dangers posed by Seattle’s unique geology, including the Seattle Fault which runs below Seattle homes and businesses. She also pieces together the clues that told researchers about a devastating earthquake that hit this area in 900 A.D., including the discovery of an ancient, perfectly preserved “ghost forest” still intact on the bottom of Lake Washington.
