During my project, I assisted in teaching an environmental education course called “Humans and the Environment in the “Pacific Northwest Bioregion” to college students visiting from China and Japan. I was interested in studying how urban students with little exposure to natural environments react to them, how outdoors education enhances environmental education, and in what ways outdoors education can be made more effective. The outdoors experiential component to this class gave me the opportunity to find the answers to my questions first-hand.
