Working with Stewardship Partners, I constructed model rain gardens to use as demonstration tools at local outreach events to educate the public about how they can be used as a stormwater management practice. I was interested in studying the effectiveness of modeling instructional strategies within informal teaching settings, as well as studying environmental frameworks and determining how they contribute to the success of outreach programs. By relating my experience as an outreach instructor to existing environmental frameworks I was able to develop a more effective framework specific to environmental outreach education.
