The main objective of my Capstone project was to design and implement a lesson plan catering specifically to the unique ecosystem features of Cranberry Lake in Shelton, Washington. My lesson plan focused on amphibians, and it was intended for a 4th/5th grade audience. I was interested in researching the behavioral effects of outdoor education on children, and I conducted teacher surveys to assess any noticeable behavioral changes following these lessons. After reviewing the data, though, I decided instead to focus on possible reasons that behavioral outcomes may differ between rural and urban populations.
