For my capstone, I worked on an air travel project with UW Sustainability that can help UW lower its carbon footprint. I developed a communications plan for the UW Travel Office, which would launch a conversation across campus about reducing UW’s air travel emissions. I was especially interested in determining what factors affect academic air travel from the perspective of UW faculty members, as this would help UW find paths to reduce flying emissions. I discovered that the many factors affecting academic air travel exist within various scales of the academic system and have their own influences on travel behavior.
