As environmental problems worsen, finding more efficient and effective ways to communicate with the general public has become more important than ever. During the course of the internship, I worked with two other interns and our site supervisor to create a prototype of an online digital map for the Bellevue Botanical Garden (BBG) using Geographic Information System (GIS) software. Our goal was to enrich both site and online visitors’ experiences by providing an interactive digital map. We also wished to attract more attention to the garden, to raise environmental awareness, and to foster environmental stewardship.
