During my internship, I worked at the University District P-Patch and grew food for the local food bank. I worked under the supervision of my site supervisor Kathy Krogslund to help maintain the garden plots by planting, weeding, and watering. I also conducted a literature review in order to better understand the various social dimensions associated with community gardens and issues of food security. Combining my personal experience at the P-Patch with the relevant research gave me firsthand knowledge of the complications and benefits of community-based urban agriculture.
