Engaging an Environmental Ethic: Restoring Connections through Experiential Education
I designed and created the “Friends of Lincoln Park (FLiP) Education system” in order to supplement existing outreach and education for the Green Seattle Partnership. A self-guided interpretive trail marked with cedar posts leads through a forested site within West Seattle’s Lincoln Park, linked through the internet to an online native plant database. These combined onsite and online learning tools offer park users access to experiential education with place-based information describing current park ecology and natural history. The system is intended to encourage environmentally conscious attitudes and actions of the local community in order to increase ecological stewardship of Seattle’s parks.
