The goal of my capstone project was to examine strategies that community leaders in the Duwamish Valley have used to ensure that decision making stakeholders understand and comply with the community’s desires for environmental justice. I was interested in analyzing the complex environmental, social, and political aspects of environmental issues in the area. In particular, I was interested in how this community managed to empower itself and become a national example for Environmental Justice.
