Studying volunteer motivation in volunteer educators, those that choose to take on extra training and responsibility in volunteer projects, is important to both non-profits and environmental organizations. By running a case study through Seattle Tilth, I was able to understand why some volunteers choose these roles, and I was able to collect survey data from each participating member on their motivation, goals and thoughts on the training they are undertaking to become volunteer educators. I used the survey results as the basis for my research into some methods organizations can use if they are going to train and motivate volunteer educators in the future.
