I examined the current role food policy plays in our region, especially in regards to urban planning. Through my internship with the Puget Sound Regional Council I finished a policy scan of food policies in the region. This scan acts as a baseline study of policy in the region. The current food policy in the region is represented by the ineffective municipal code; however city, county, and regional comprehensive plans are more effective at using a holistic approach to integrating food policy into community development.
