I worked closely with the Children’s Garden at Seattle Tilth. Here I learned how to teach young
students (2-14 years old) about the benefits and joys of organic gardening. I went through a personal experiential learning process on beekeeping and then used this knowledge to create a puppet show and lesson plans to teach students about the important role honeybees’ play as pollinators in our food system. To supplement my experience I did research of scholarly literature pertaining to experiential gardening education. My objective was to understand how gardening education has the potential to improve student health and increase environmental awareness.
