I started my internship as the Restoration Intern at Columbia Springs Environmental Education Center in June 2012 and spent that summer leading community volunteer events and conducting outreach efforts. During this time I spoke with members of the public about what motivated them to help out. I wanted to understand what motivates people to engage in environmental restoration so that I could help Columbia Springs recruit more volunteers, donations, and support from the community to increase the scope of their valuable work.
