Goods Movement Mapping for Environmental Justice: Examining Freight Impacts

For my capstone project, I worked to compile databases of the locations of freight-related facilities in the metropolitan areas of Seattle-Tacoma, Boise, Anchorage, and Portland. This project was formed as a component of the Environmental Protection Agency’s (EPA) response to recommendations of the National Environmental Justice Advisory Council on working towards environmental justice with regard to diesel emissions impacts. My internship also included a number of other projects: creating a report of progress and methods, creating a report of recommendations for outreach to schools, and delivering a live/webinar presentation at the EPA.
