During my project, I discussed habitat restoration methods with forest stewards, and conducted plant surveys in habitat restoration zones in an attempt to determine best practices moving forward. I was interested in learning how habitat restoration is conducted and hoped to be able to help in the creation of a new Master Restoration plan for Discovery Park. My focus shifted over the course of the internship after discovering several hindrances to habitat restoration that were outside of the steward’s control.
