For my internship with the EPA as part of my Capstone experience, I was charged with creating an educational tool as part of a larger lesson plan through which to teach high school students on nail salon worker safety. I reviewed literature and conducted research, as well as attended nail technician training through King County Hazardous Waste Management Program’s Nail Salon Project. This cumulated in a interactive presentation given at Issaquah High School. I was interested in addressing why study nail salon worker safety was being targeted so specifically, and how educational outreach could benefit consumers and workers alike.
