At Puget Soundkeeper Alliance, I led small groups of volunteers on pollution patrols via kayak and boat. We picked up marine debris, looked for illegal discharging/oil spills, and completed pollution reports. After seeing the destruction that has taken place in our local bodies of water and the effects that it has had on our salmon popula- tions, it made me want to learn more about what local environmental organizations. What are organizations currently using, and how can we improve their strategies to make a bigger impression. In my study, I argue that collaboration between organizations and a focus on the same methods can make a longer-term impact on sustaining our Pacific Northwest salmon.
