Sustainability and successful business must not be thought of as mutually exclusive. By acting in a more environmentally-friendly way, a business can reduce its energy use and waste, appeal more to consumers, and raise the moral of employees and company stakeholders. Government has the ability to play an intricate role in fostering a market environment that favors businesses acting in a sustainable manner, which benefits businesses and the greater society. My Capstone Experience focused on exploring the beneficial relationship between business and sustainability in the hospitality industry, specifically at the Olympic Fairmont Hotel in downtown Seattle.
