I worked with the Aquatic Reserves designated by the Washington Department of Natural Resources to help them develop methods for raising community awareness and scientific knowledge of the reserve. I focused mainly on anthropocentric disturbances that may affect the aquatic reserves. I also drafted a Quality Assurance Project Plan report for the Smith & Minor Islands community. By interacting with citizen committees I learned about the topics for which they were interested in advocating and the concerns they had for their aquatic reserve. This information was especially helpful for my project.
