In an effort to help patrons learn more about the vendors who offer their products at the Carnation Farmers Market, I crafted a series of vendor profiles that highlighted the vendors’ histories, offerings, and production practices. Farmers markets are venues that utilize direct marketing. Direct marketing allows producers to communicate directly with and sell their products directly to consumers. Throughout my internship, I became more and more interested in exploring the benefits (and drawbacks) associated with direct marketing and the value that this method of sales offers to producers, consumers, and the greater community as a whole.
