My internship at the U.S Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) focused on the research and development of sustainability goals (indicators) for communities with fewer than 50,000 people. I worked with Bremerton, Washington as my model community to formulate concise and personal indicators to meet the city’s needs. Through my research, I found that there are 3 challenges small communities face when implementing indicator models. I shared this information with the city of Bremerton in hopes to increase their participation with the sustainability indicators model.
