Environmental justice (EJ) is the concept that all individuals and groups should have equal access to environmental quality and protection from disproportionate exposure to environmental burdens. The Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), like all federal agencies, has been charged by Executive Order 12898 to address issues of EJ in Ameri- can communities. Over the past two decades, the EPA has prioritized their EJ goals. For my Capstone project, I worked with Region 10 staff to identify strengths in existing strategies and techniques with the goal of increasing collaboration and effective communication efforts to better engage communities with EJ concerns.
