Farmland is being converted to development at an alarming rate. My project involved drafting a research report evaluating farmland protection programs in 12 counties in the Puget Sound Basin in Washington State, in order to understand and disseminate information on how these counties are using regulation, development rights, tax incentives, and economic development to protect local farmland.  I worked with a graduate student, and used the resulting information to write “reviews ” for each county, as well as draft a report with findings and recommendations on Puget Sound farmland protection programs and how to strengthen them.
