During my internship at the U-District P-Patch, I assisted the garden in getting started on a fundraising project for important renovations and performed research to under- stand how the garden might serve to address issues of food security. My research was focused on exploring the relationship between the garden and the U-District Food Bank, in addition to the impact that the garden made on the diets and lives of gardeners. Through interviews and becoming a P-Patch gardener, my internship gave me a first-hand look at the role of community gardens in local food systems.
