The purpose of my project was to determine if rain gardens are an effective and well-perceived method of green storm water infrastructure. During my internship, I aided Stewardship Partners in surveying rain garden owners about the effectiveness, maintenance and perceptions of existing rain gardens. I developed a survey to question homeowners about their rain gardens. I summarized and presented the findings of the survey to Stewardship Partners in a document. These findings were validated by comparing them to other scientific studies and published scholarly literature on rain gardens, in order to test conclusions on the effectiveness of rain gardens.
