During my project I acted as the Environmental Affairs Intern for the Fairmont Olympic Hotel in Downtown Seattle. I was interested in studying local businesses to learn how they can reduce the environmental impact of their operations through resource conservation and using “best sustainable practices”. My case study is the practical application of the Energy Star Portfolio Manager program and Lucid Building Dashboard software. My findings highlight the advantages of community-based utility benchmarking in urban environments.
