What it takes to recruit and retain Volunteers
During my Capstone Project, I worked for Seattle Tilth, and I organized the implementation of a recruitment program for Seattle Tilth’s Pickering Barn in Issaquah, Washington. I organized the contacts that the Pickering Barn already had, and I researched the best methods for recruiting and retaining volunteers within non-profit organizations (like Seattle Tilth). I concluded that, for successful results in terms of both recruiting and retaining volunteers, there are three key principles that should be of focus which include; communication, education and group-specific contact. These results in relation to the work I did at Seattle Tilth, signify the importance of incorporating certain mechanisms of recruitment in order to recruit and retain volunteers long term.
