Program Coordinator (part-time)
The Program Coordinator will assume day-to-day coordination of the Office of Sustainability, project administration, communications and committees. They will provide support across the scope of Sustainability at Bellevue College initiative, in support to the Director and Curriculum Manager, and provide direction to the Sustainability Coordinators.
 
Part Time: 19 hours per week
Salary: $14/hr.

The Program on the Environment is proud to present Spring 2012’s PoE capstone symposium!  We will have nearly 50 graduating seniors presenting at oral presentations and poster sessions over a span of three days!  All students are invited to attend and hear about the wonderful environmental projects students have been working on.

WHAT: PoE Spring 2012 Capstone Symposium

WHEN: Monday, May 21 – Wednesday, May 23 from 3 p.m. – 6 p.m.

WHERE: Fishery Sciences Building (FSH), Room 107 and the PoE Commons (ACC).  Oral presentations will be in FSH and poster sessions will be in ACC.

From director Jon Shenk (The Lost Boys of Sudan) comes the story of PresidentMohamed Nasheed of the Maldives, a man confronting the literal survival of his country and everyone in it. After bringing democracy to the Maldives after thirty years of despotic rule, Nasheed is now faced with an even greater challenge: as one of themost low-lying countries in the world, a rise of three feet in sea level would submerge the1200 islands of the Maldives enough to make them uninhabitable. 

The Island President captures Nasheed’s first year of office, culminating in his trip to theCopenhagen Climate Summit, where the film provides a rare glimpse of the political horse-trading that goes on at such a top-level global assembly. Nasheed is unusually candid about revealing his strategies—leveraging the Maldives’ underdog position as a tiny country, harnessing the power of media, and overcoming deadlocks through an appeal to unity with other developing nations. Despite the modest size of his country, Mohamed Nasheed has become one of the leading international voices for urgent action on climate change. 

On February 7, 2012, Nasheed was forced to resign the presidency under the threat of violence in a coup d’etat perpetrated by security forces loyal to the former dictator. Thefuture of the president, and the island, remain unclear.

[job] – Well KEPT Program Supervisor – City of Bellevue

The Well KEPT Program is a summer youth employment program offered through the Natural Resource Division of the Parks & Community Services Department. We are hiring two Well KEPT Program Supervisors to manage the group of teens this summer. The program is designed to provide Bellevue youth with education, job skills, and career development training in the field of park resource management. Work focuses on parkland renovation and maintenance; projects may include forest enhancement, wetland restoration, and trail construction. The Well KEPT Program combines on-the-job work experience, environmental education, and career development training to instill strong self-esteem, good work habits, and sound environmental ethics.

We have an outstanding opportunity for a part-time (50% FTE), temporary (Autumn Quarter 2012) Teaching Assistant. This position will provide teaching support for the graduate course, PB AF 597 Role of Scientific Information in Environmental Decisions course. The course is offered by the Daniel J. Evans School of Public Affairs and taught by Professor Alison Cullen. It serves as a core offering for the EM Certificate.
