Pacific Northwest National Laboratory is seeking an undergraduate student for up to 20 hours per week to support research efforts associated with environmental effects of renewable ocean energy development.

This task includes developing written materials, updating online forums and utilizing social media, tracking current events, synthesizing research materials, and providing analyses of multiple technical sources to inform a research community and other stakeholders in the development of renewable ocean energy in the U.S. and abroad.

The successful applicant does not need to be in a scientific field, but should be fairly comfortable reading, speaking, and writing about basic scientific concepts.

• This internship is a paid position, and will require a commitment of up to 20 hours per week for at least one quarter.

About this opportunity:
The Arava Institute Study Abroad Program is an accredited university-level program for undergraduate and graduate students pursuing degrees in environmental or related fields. Over the course of one or two semesters, students engage in an interdisciplinary program comprised of courses in diverse environmental fields, a Peace-building and Environmental Leadership Seminar, and educational field trips.

The Arava Institute Internship Program allows interns to contribute substantively to transboundary environmental research while gaining valuable experience in the academic or professional field of their choice.

The City of Bellevue’s Natural Resource Division is hosting the 5th annual Master Naturalist Training Program free to interested students, community members and volunteers. This is a FREE stewardship training program that educates volunteers on the importance and significance of ecological restoration and preservation for the management and conservation of natural resources and natural areas.  

Over the course of this free 16-week training program volunteers will learn about the area’s ecology, hydrology, geology, native plants, wildlife, cultural history, restoration efforts and much more! Volunteer service opportunities include environmental education and interpretation, community outreach, habitat restoration and management, maintenance projects, and wildlife and native plant restoration monitoring and research.

Training will take place on Fridays from 9am-3pm, January 10 to May 30, 2014 at the Lewis Creek Visitor Center.
