November 16th is GIS Day and the University of Washington will highlight and celebrate the transformational role of Geographic Information Science (GIS) and Remote Sensing Technologies. The day-long event, hosted by the UW Libraries, will offer:

• GIS and Remote Sensing technical support sessions aka the “Doctor’s Office”
• GeoCaching
• Open Source GIS Demonstrations
• “Lightning Talks” spotlighting the diversity of GIS on campus
• Keynote address by Dean Lisa Graumlich (College of the Environment)
• GIS Day Student Poster Competition

    • What: Posters that demonstrate GIS, Remote Sensing, and other Geospatial Projects
    • When: Entry Deadline Mon Nov 7th (end of day)
    • Awards: $300 first place, $200 second place, $100 third place (cash and prizes)
