GIS (Geographic Information Systems) Day — UW Research Commons
November 16th is GIS Day and the University of Washington will highlight and celebrate the transformational role of Geographic Information Science (GIS) and Remote Sensing Technologies. The day-long event, hosted by the UW Libraries, will offer:
- GIS and Remote Sensing technical support sessions aka the “Doctor’s Office”
- GeoCaching
- Open Source GIS Demonstrations
- “Lightning Talks” spotlighting the diversity of GIS on campus
- Keynote address by Dean Lisa Graumlich (College of the Environment)
- GIS Day Student Poster Competition

- What: Posters that demonstrate GIS, Remote Sensing, and other Geospatial Projects
- When: Entry Deadline Mon Nov 7th (end of day)
- Awards: $300 first place, $200 second place, $100 third place (cash and prizes)
