[job]: Fisheries Management Biologist
JOB SCOPE:
The Fisheries Management Biologist will be responsible, under the direction of the Harvest Manager or his designee, for providing the best available science for the determination of the harvestable surplus of treaty reserved right fisheries resources within the adjudicated fishing areas of the Lummi Nation. Existing programs will be developed and implemented in coordination with co-manager management biologists to establish population dynamics, harvest rates and stock exploitation rates. The incumbent will focus upon both finfish and shellfish resources within Lummi’s Usual and Accustomed fishing grounds and stations. The job will consist of a balance between field and office work in determining the population dynamics of manila clams on and off reservation, the stock composition of salmon stocks in the terminal fishing area, the distribution and abundance of shrimp, sea cucumber, sea urchin and geoduck populations and the determination, according to the best available science, of the allowable harvest of each species.
