Requirements to Declare

The Environmental Studies major is a minimum requirements major, which means all students must complete the following in order to declare the major:

• Minimum 2.00 cumulative GPA
• Minimum 2.0 grade in ENVIR 100
• Completion of any ENVIR-prefix course at the 200-level or higher with a minimum grade of 2.0

UW students are able to declare the ENVIR major at any time if they meet the minimum admissions requirements above and are able to complete the degree within the University’s Academic Satisfactory Progress policy.

Steps to Declare

Eligible students are encouraged to meet with an Environmental Studies advisor to declare the major.  There is no application form required.  A change of major form will be completed during the advising appointment after confirming minimum requirements and also graduation timeline.
