Summary: The Assistant Park Ranger I is a part time 1040 position offered through the Bellevue Parks & Community Services Department Natural Resource Division. This position is a front line customer service position directly in contact with the public on a daily basis. The Assistant Park Ranger I provides environmental program development and delivery, patrolling, marketing, staffing and environmental interpretive support. The position reports to the Park Ranger.
Hours: Part-time and on the weekends.
Salary: Starting minimum $14.74 per hour
Responsibilities:
- Provide Program assistance to the Park Ranger.
- Design and implement adult and family environmental education and interpretive programs for the Lewis Creek Visitor Center.
- Provide outreach to the public and communicate park rules and policies to users in a professional and courteous manner.
- Provide support at other Natural Resource facilities, Visitor Centers and during events, as needed. Duties include facility staffing, responding to customer inquiries, and program delivery. Tasks may include opening/closing facilities, answering phones, greeting visitors, conducting surveys, monitoring rentals, working on assigned projects and keeping a neat and clean Visitor Center.
- Creating and coordinating interpretive displays and brochures.
- Position may involve leading weekly canoe tours during summer months.
- Conduct park patrol duties including park/trail patrols, providing customer service to park patrons, educating patrons regarding park rules and regulations, maintaining visitation and patrol logs, and conducting park/trail inspections.
- The position may also provide administrative support and programming assistance to other Parks Department and Natural Resource Division program areas as needed.
