Earthwatch is seeking an organized and adaptable individual, with experience in coordinating programs and a solid understanding of science. The Program Coordinator will be responsible for supporting Program Managers in the creation and delivery of programs, especially all aspects of preparing participants for their expeditions. This Program Coordinator will also manage the online community for a corporate sustainability program on freshwater issues, engaging directly with participants to encourage them to contribute to the online community and to collect water quality data. Since this position will provide support to both North and Latin America, we are looking for someone who is fluent in Spanish, preferably a native speaker. This person should also have an interest in being trained in facilitating the program in the field, since this position may be trained to serve as back up for field delivery staff.
Earthwatch’s mission is to engage people worldwide in scientific field research and education to promote a sustainable environment. Every year Earthwatch awards grants of over $6 million in support of as many as 70 research projects around the world. These grants are partly funded by volunteers from the general public and our partner organizations who sign up for expeditions to join our scientists as research assistants. This model provides essential funding for long-term research and a workforce of committed volunteers.
