Sustainability Research Intern

 

Sustainable Business Consulting (SBC) is a Seattle-based consulting firm that delivers improved profitability through sustainable business practices. We believe that business is the best way to solve the huge financial, social, and environmental challenges facing our world today.

 

We are looking for an independent, hard-working, and motivated intern to help us with the following:

 

Internship Job Responsibilities include:

·                  Conducting in-depth research and analyses on key sustainability issues within the global market

·                  Providing support on various sustainability assignments 

·                  Identifying case studies around sustainability and organizational change

·                  Supporting company presentations and speaking engagements

·                  Perform various administrative tasks as needed

 


Qualifications

·         Excellent writing, editing and proofreading skills

·         Proven research experience

·         Demonstrated interest in sustainability as it applies to business management

·         Proficient in MS Office suite, especially PowerPoint

·         Quick learner, willingness to take on any task (e.g. data entry, research, whatever is needed)

·         Solid work ethic, positive can-do attitude, high standard of professionalism

 

Timeframe and Compensation

This internship is intended for college students or recent graduates who will be with us 15 hours per week for 3 months.  The intern must work in the office 2 days/week. We can work with you and your advisor to ensure you receive college credit for the internship. 

 

Starting right away – Mid-August

 

The position is volunteer and unpaid, but will be working directly for the CEO and senior staff to support high level presentations and speaking engagements. Moreover, we are not only committed to teaching you about sustainable business but also supporting your career development.  Please do not apply if you are looking for a paid position.

They could use helping the project receive Salmon Safe certification and qualify the homes for the Cascadia Chapter of the USGBC’s Living Building Challenge. Additionally, there are opportunities to develop educational programs for developers and architects using the zHomes complex for on-site learning.

EcoChallenge InternWe are looking for an intern (or committed volunteer) to assist with our 2011 EcoChallenge. The EcoChallenge is growing and we are looking for a volunteer or intern to assist us for 4-6 hours per week with a variety of tasks, including: outreach to potential participants, assisting with raffle prize donations from local business supporters, working with our outreach team and Development Director to promote the event to local organizations, businesses and community groups. We are looking for someone to assist from July 1 – October 15, with some flexibility for dates within that timeframe. If you know a college student who might be interested in the EcoChallange internship, please feel free to forward this announcement. Intern: State Government Affairs #4500

Puget Sound Energy (PSE) is seeking one intern to gain professional and personal growth through varied and challenging assignments in the company’s State Government Affairs group. Intern assignments will involve internal and external communications with stakeholders, including legislative staff, business and environmental organizations and other utilities. Position duties will include extensive policy research, policy analysis and comprehension of current and emerging issues of importance to the company. Additional duties include drafting research summaries and/or reports, attending and reporting on legislative meetings and hearings, preparing presentations and media tracking.

Candidate must be:

  • A Junior or Senior-level student or recent graduate at the time of internship
  • A strong communicator, in written, oral and interpersonal communications
  • A self-starter, able to work independently with limited supervision and able to handle multiple projects in an organized fashion to meet project timelines and department deadlines
  • Able to have a basic understanding of the Washington State Legislature, including the process by which a bill becomes law.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, familiarity with Excel, PowerPoint and other software and social media is desirable and may be required for some positions

Specific position candidate qualifications:

  • Government Relations – Undergraduate (or recent graduate) seeking Bachelor of Arts degree in Political Science, Government, Public Administration,Pre-Law or a related field
