POLLUTION PREVENTION SPECIALIST

Job Summary

Under general direction of the storm water manager, and in collaboration with solid waste and wastewater program staff, assists small business owners with voluntary efforts to control, reduce or eliminate pollutants and storm water runoff by offering technical assistance and information on best practices. Responsible for identifying and coordinating site visits, preparing and distributing educational materials, completing checklists, preparing site visit reports and monthly reporting using WA ST Department of Ecology guidelines as outlined in the Local Source Control Partnership.  More information is available at http://www.ecy.wa.gov/programs/hwtr/lsp/index.html. THIS IS A GRANT-FUNDED POSITION FUNDED THROUGH JUNE 30, 2013. IT MAY BE RE-EVALUATED AT THAT TIME FOR SUCCESS MEETING OBJECTIVES, CONTINUED NEED AND AVAILABLE GRANT FUNDING. THE SELECTED INCUMBENT WILL NEED TO ATTEND MANDATORY TRAINING ON FEBRUARY 14TH AND 15TH.

 

Salary & Benefits:    $3,551 – $3,767 per month.

Excellent benefits include medical, dental and vision coverage for employee and dependents, life insurance, long-term disability insurance, vacation accrual, and PERS retirement.  Employee shares 10% of the medical premium. This position is included in the AFSCME Local #1619 Union.

  • Processing Compliance Documents: our company directs its suppliers to provide information and forms including full material declaration, test reports, ozone depleting compound declarations, greenhouse gas declarations and usage data, water usage data, etc. The person in this position does not have to have technical expertise in these areas but will monitor the mailbox to which these are submitted and ensure they are put in the appropriate folder for review by our team. A thorough review for completeness (non-technical) may also be required. We will provide training
  • Purchase Order Creation and Tracking: This position will also act as the team’s coordinator for PO creation and expense tracking toward those POs.
  • Document editing and formatting: We routinely create new or updated specifications, process documents, and training presentations. This position will assist in the final drafting, non-technical editing, and formatting of these documents.

 Required Skills:

  • Must be detail oriented, able to effectively multitask, be prompt, reliable and self-motivated
  • Must be well-organized, able to meet tight and strict deadlines, and enjoy working both collaboratively and independently
  • Computer savvy person who is capable and comfortable learning new tools
  • Editing and formatting expertise, as well as proficient use of Word, Excel, and PowerPoint are a must

EarthCorps, a Seattle-based conservation corps with a mission to build global community through local environmental service, is seeking a full-time Corps Program Manager to join our program team by supervising six crew leaders and overseeing a cohort of young adult corps members.  Key responsibilities include: hiring, training, and supervision of crew leaders, implementing corps member training and education, safety/risk management and maintaining the objectives of EarthCorps’ mission in all endeavors. This position works Tuesday through Friday with occasional Saturdays and Mondays from 7:00 a.m.-5:30 p.m. 

Qualifications: Bachelors degree and/or  3-5 years of related experience; hands-on experience with Conservation Corps program coordination; demonstrated management skills including staff supervision, proven cross cultural communication skills; a passion and desire to mentor, lead and teach young adults. The position requires initiative, organizational skills, flexibility, strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work collaboratively.   Competitive salary and excellent benefits.Position open until filled.
