Entry-level position in a law firm specializing in energy, environmental, and natural resources issues (offices in Seattle and Washington D.C.)
EXECUTIVE/LEGAL ASSISTANT – SEATTLE
Van Ness Feldman LLP is looking for a talented Executive/Legal Assistant, who will work closely with and support the needs of several attorneys in the Seattle office. The position will support attorneys who are at the forefront of today’s energy, environmental, and land use/real estate issues.
The ideal candidate will be a recent college graduate or highly adaptable individual who is familiar with legal and political processes, proficient with Microsoft Office, and is eager to learn. This position will provide an opportunity to gain valuable experience and insight into the intersecting fields of energy, environmental issues, real estate, and policy.
Typical tasks include, but are not limited to:
- Perform complex word processing, including drafting correspondence and business documents, and formatting, managing layout, and editing documents for accuracy and consistency.
- Create or compile supportive graphics, charts, and diagrams; reports; and relevant research.
- Proofread documents; provide original feedback considering document’s tone, persuasiveness, clarity, and overall message.
- Finalize daily time entries for billing personnel.
- Establish and maintain filing system for records, files, and documentation. Maintain confidential materials and records.
- Schedule, maintain, and prioritize calendars, meetings, and travel arrangements.
- Coordinate hospitality for visiting guests/clients.
- Answer phones and return calls as needed.
- Perform expense reconciliation and reporting.
Desired Skills and Experience
- 2+ years of administrative/office experience.
- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, and team-oriented philosophy.
- Intermediate to advanced skills with Microsoft Office, especially Word and PowerPoint.
- Excellent organization skills and ability to handle administrative details with minimal supervision.
- Integrity and the ability to use discretion in handling confidential information.
- Bachelor’s Degree preferred; concentration in law, political science, business, communications, English, environmental studies or technical communication a plus.
