Join community members and local businesses for an afternoon of volunteering to restore the Duwamish River shoreline.  Volunteers will help dig out invasive blackberry, lay down mulch and plant native vegetation. This event will continue the Restore the Duwamish Shoreline Challenge initiated by BECU. Come learn more about the Challenge’s goal of uniting Tukwila’s business community for this local environmental cause and lend a hand restoring the Duwamish River’s ecosystem.

Help restore this beautiful neighborhood treasure to a more natural and sustainable state while creating places for both people and wildlife in our cities.

This site is a restoration success due to the work of thousands of volunteers. Come be a part of the story. A Cedar River Salmon Journey Naturalist will be onsite giving interpretive tours.

Planting at Taylor Mountain Forest

Taylor Mountain Forest, Hobart
Taylor Mountain Forest is a critical wildlife corridor that connects Tiger Mountain and the protected Cedar River Watershed, the direct source of clean drinking water for over one million residents in King County. The forest contains hiking and equestrian trails, wetlands, and streams, and is also home to wildlife such as bear, elk, cougars, cutthroat trout, and western toads! Volunteers will be re-vegetating a newly acquired area of the forest with native trees and shrubs.

[volunteer] Friends of Cedar River Watershed habitat restoration

Friends of Cedar River Watershed are looking for students in environmental programs at the University of Washington to come join restoration efforts this winter. FCRW is a local non-profit organization with a mission to engage people to enhance and sustain watersheds through restoration, education, and stewardship. 

Restoration projects run on Saturdays, from approximately 10:00AM – 2:00PM. All ages and skills are welcome!

CUH Graduate Student Poster Session

Are you interested in learning about what the UW ecological restoration and horticulture graduate students have been up to?  Join us for the annual UWBG Graduate Student Poster Exhibit at the Elizabeth C. Miller Library (at the Center for Urban Horticulture).  

The opening reception will be on Friday, May 11th, 5:00 – 7:00 pm.  Light refreshments will be served.  All are welcome to come meet the researchers and browse the posters.  

Student posters will remain on display in the Library from May 11th to May 30th.

Green Kent Partnership Temporary (1 Position Available)

Hours:        30 hours per week

Salary:       $12.00 – $15.00 per hour depending on experience

Open:         May 16, 2011

Duties:

Assist staff and volunteers in environmental restoration including, but not limited to, recognizing invasive weeds and demonstrating the proper removal.  Recognize native trees and shrubs and can demonstrate the correct planting techniques.  Assist staff in routine clerical tasks including, but not limited to, record-keeping and communication with volunteers. 


Restoration Planting with Stewardship Partners (March 5)


March 5th from 10am-2pm at 1202 W Snoqualmie River Rd Ne Carnation, WA 98014 It’s that time of the year again, planting season! Come join Stewardship Partners in completing mile 9 of stream side restoration plantings along the Snoqualmie River.
