Opportunities and Challenges of Diversity & Accessibility on Urban Farms

I partnered with the UW Farm to research the current level of diversity and accessibility achieved on
their two main farm sites (Mercer Court and Center for Urban Horticulture) as well as how these levels
could be improved through an email survey. Through literature review I was able to compare this to
national averages and identify opportunities to increase diversity and accessibility both on the UW
Farm as well as urban farms in general. As part of my internship I also developed a perennial map and
management guide for the two main farm sites mentioned above to help with accessibility issues and
the general success of the farm.
