Evaluating Accessibility to Community Gardens

I interned for the Seattle Ppatch Program at the University District Ppatch to grow food for donation to the University District Food Bank (helping to donate over 480lbs of food in three months). In addition, I conducted a literature review that examined four different facets of community garden access: spatial, physical, economic, and cultural accessibility. I show that by determining what it means for community gardens to be accessible and by applying such accessibility criteria, community gardeners and urban planners alike can help ensure that the numerous benefits of community gardens are equitably distributed throughout gardening communities.
