This past summer, I worked at P-Patch Gardens located in New Holly and High Point on behalf of the City of Seattle’s Department of Neighborhoods. P-Patch Gardens are allotted plots designed for community gardening. To reclaim our food, the P-Patch Gardening Program represents a powerful grassroots and civic engagement effort by community members who create and maintain these gardens. The P-Patch’s Market Gardens Program serves low-income and immigrant families in New Holly and High Point, teaching individuals to garden and sell produce to local residents. My work focused on summer produce stands.
