Coffee for Water is a small social enterprises that works with coffee cooperatives in Haiti in order to purchase locally grown coffee, sell it in America and in turn, reinvest the profits in Haiti to fund local water filtration projects. During my project, I assisted John Peters in guiding Coffee for Water’s expansion from Haiti to other locations based on a set of criteria we decided based on Coffee for Water’s goals. We used these criteria to determine which coffee-growing nation was best for Coffee for Water to attempt to expand their project. The final part of the project focused on an extensive literature review of the current state of knowledge surrounding coffee cooperatives, social enterprises, and Third World development.
