Federal Green Challenge: Helping Federal Agencies Realize their Sustainability Potential

The misuse of resources has led to environmental degrada- tion. The federal government is the largest consumer of energy in the United States and contributes to this degrada- tion and climate change. Programs like the Federal Green Challenge (FGC) measure the reduction of impacts from government operations and have helped hundreds of agen- cies reduce the impacts of their operations for nearly a decade. However, long-term participant engagement becomes more difficult with time as agencies meet their short-term goals.
