During my project with the Green Party of Canada, I was the assistant for the Victoria federal candidate (Jo-Ann Roberts) in the campaign leading up the federal election that took place in October 2015. I was interested in observing what techniques and strategies my candidate took on to engage community members, primarily the youth population (ages 18-24). I had the privilege of attending community events with Jo-Ann and assist in how she addressed community members. Based off of my observations and scholarly research it was discovered that face-to-face time, being seen and heard in public, and engagement at community events were the most effective methods for a candidate to practice.
