Discovery Park is Seattle’s largest city park and is a common place for locals and tourists to escape the hustle and bustle of the city and enjoy a more peaceful natural setting. The purpose of this study was to understand why people use a city park and how trails can be designed to fit those uses to provide the best experience for visitors. I surveyed visitors in the park and conducted independent research to identify the key factors park planners need to consider when designing urban park trails. These factors include trail use, demographics, and safety.
