During my project, I worked at the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) Region 10 office helping to address landfill fire control issues on the Colville Reservation, Washington. I mainly focused on gathering information on the human health effects of landfill fires and methods of landfill fire prevention. The results of this research contributed to the public outreach strategy of the EPA, aimed to raise the Colville residents’ awareness of the issue. Also, I provided my detailed findings to the tribal officials to inform their decision-making.
