Seattle 2030 District; Focusing on Energy, Water, and Carbon Reduction in Seattle’s Downtown Business District
According to the United Nations, over half of the world’s population lives in urban areas, but by the year 2050 over 70% of the world’s population will be urban dwellers, meaning residents and buildings will have a substantial impact on local resources. The Seattle 2030 District is an organization initiated by the public and private stakeholders to implement an energy reduction program for commercial and residential buildings in Seattle’s downtown business district. By focusing on implementing energy up-grades Seattle’s buildings will save energy and reduce overall carbon emissions.
